Let's talk about pros and cons of working from home more

Last week, we started out conversation about pros and cons of working from home!

Let's continue that conversation!

So... what are some more pros?

  • Work-Life Balance: It’s easier to create boundaries between work and personal life, leading to improved overall well-being. This is not for everyone for sure! For some people, I know this can be a con- because it's harder to set boundaries! But for people who are good at setting those boundaries, it is a big pro!

  • Increased Autonomy: Greater control over your work environment and routines can lead to higher job satisfaction and decreased feelings of burnout. This is true for me, to be honest. I have a tendency to talk to my co-workers, or ask for permission, if I am working in person. So it's helpful for me if I can work outside of the office.

  • Reduced Distractions: For some, working from home can minimize office distractions, allowing for more focused work. For me, it depends on the time of day! If it's loud and I want some quiet, I try to put my headphones on and listen to youtube or music to just... calm down.

But wait! There are some more cons too!

  • Limited Social Support: Reduced access to immediate support from coworkers can hinder problem-solving and emotional support. I have an amazing work bestie who I work with and speak with often. I know that not everyone has that though! So this can definitely be a struggle. When we work in the office, we could just walk to the someone's office to talk to them. When we work out of the office, it's a bit harder.

  • Communication Challenges: Remote communication can lead to misunderstandings and a lack of clarity, increasing stress. I tend to overcommunicate (which I am sure is stressful for some people) and I struggle myself when others do not communicate. I also know that sometimes, that could be due to my own anxiety, because my mind starts to fill in the silence. lol

  • Distractions at Home: Family members, pets, or household chores can be distracting and hinder focus. I have 2 cats and my mom has 2 dogs. So sometimes, pets can definitely be distracting! I also have the boys with me when they are home and that can definitely be a big distraction! (although, most of the time, the distraction is welcomed, it's definitely not all the time!)

With these in mind, let's jump into this week's Therapist mama bear tip!
