Let's talk about creative outlets for self care

Are you a creative person?

I am most definitely not! I watch Yuri draw masterpieces and I am always in awe at the amazing art that he can create.

But that got me thinking. As a therapist, I used quite a lot of creative outlets for self care.

And thought, "this may be nice to chat about!"

So.. let's start!

1. Art: Dabble in the world of art, whether it's painting, drawing, or crafting. Creating something with our hands can be a therapeutic escape, allowing your mind to unwind and explore new avenues of expression. It doesn't mean that we have to be super great at it- enjoy it! I know when I draw a dog, it looks like a lopsided dinosaur, but I laugh at myself and just enjoy the process of it.

2. Journaling: Set sail on the seas of self-discovery through journaling. Whether it's jotting down your thoughts, dreams, or daily reflections, putting pen to paper can be a cathartic release and a pathway to better understanding yourself. I am really awful at journaling! But, I know in the moments where I am really frustrated, it helps to write it down. So journaling does not have to be a every single day thing- it can even be a weekly/monthly/whatever thing!

3. Music: Let the notes of your favorite tunes become the soundtrack of your self-care journey. Music has the power to uplift, soothe, and transport you to different emotional landscapes, providing a sanctuary for your mind. Aki loves music! Whenever we watch a movie with songs on it, it's always amazing to see how quickly he memorizes the songs. It's a huge coping skill for him for sure!

With these in mind, let's jump into our Therapist Mama Bear weekly tip!
