As someone who struggled with eating and a negative view of myself in the past, this is a hard topic for me..and also one that I am super passionate about.
Body positivity is a powerful concept that invites us to celebrate our bodies in all their unique forms. In a world that often bombards us with unrealistic beauty standards, embracing our bodies as they are can be a radical act of self-love and acceptance.
It is about recognizing the inherent worth and beauty in every body, regardless of shape, size, or appearance. It's about dismantling harmful societal norms and embracing the idea that every body is worthy of respect, love, and care.
You may be thinking-- That's great and all but... how do we do that?
One of the first steps towards body positivity is becoming aware of the negative self-talk that can permeate our thoughts. We often internalize external judgments and criticisms, leading to a cycle of self-doubt. Instead, try replacing these thoughts with affirmations of self-love and acceptance.
It can sound like "I'm so fat. I'm too skinny to be appealing. I'm too short, I'm too tall, etc."
so instead of that... we can change it to be something like...
"I'm great just the way I am. I am just the right size to be me."
