Let’s talk about balancing work and mental wellness

I am told often that I’m a workaholic. I can’t deny it, in a way, since I do tend to work a lot. I currently work full time, a few part time positions and also volunteer. This is outside of being a mama to my boys, a wife, a daughter, a friend, etc.

But I want to talk about balancing work and mental wellness for this post. I’ll write about balancing roles sometime soon!

For many people, work can be a big reason for their stress. Honestly, even LOOKING for a job can be SO stressful! I remember Yuki looking for a full time job for a long time and how much that impacted his self view so negatively.

So how can we make sure that we are mentally taking care of ourselves at the same time?

  1. Remember that you are more than your job. I tell myself this all the time.

  2. Take breaks

  3. If needed (as I do!) schedule your breaks

  4. Make sure to eat, walk around, drink, etc.

  5. Connect with people- I have a work friend that I have been friends with for over 8 years. We always joke that whenever I go to a new job, she goes with me. (It's happened a few times. lol) We currently work in the same department, and I truly believe that one of the reasons we stay and stay sane is that we have each other!

With all this in mind, let's jump into our Therapist Mama bear Weekly tip!
